Victor Bassey Attah brief Biography

Obong Victor Attah Bassey was born on November 20, 1938, he was governor of Akwa Ibom state from 29 May 1999 and 29 May 2007. Once member of the Board of Trustees of the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

Obong Victor Bassey Attah completed his post-primary education in 1956. At Leeds College of Art earned his degree and a postgraduate diploma in Building Science from the University of Liverpool in 1965.

Obong Attah as popularly called won a scholarship to study at Columbia University in New York, where he earned a Masters in Advanced Architectural Design and Planning. Architect Victor Attah also attended the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.


After completing his education, he worked as an architect in the Caribbean, New York and Nigeria. Victor Attah served as the national president of the Nigerian Institute of Architects. He was elected Governor of Akwa Ibom in 1999 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform and was re-elected in 2003. In 2003, Obong Attah was elected Chairman of the Forum of the 36 governors of Nigeria.
