The meeting between the National Delegate members from the National Association of Nigerian Nurses And Midwives and the FTH Gombe State Nurses who recently withdrew from the body has held today the 29th of December 2016. The meeting between the two bodies held at the Nurses House Gombe State.
The discussions between the two groups were said to be spirited and a bit lively for a few hours with the meeting called to a halt approximately 4 hours into the discussions.
The national delegates assured members of the FTH group of nurses that their case was been looked into and promised to work assiduously to ensure success, also entreating the Nurses not to pull out of NANNM as all their demands would be taken into serious consideration.
Representatives of the group assured the delegates that there will be peace once their demands were met and promised to discuss with the members and lay out to they what was said and achieved during the meeting and that hopefully a positive result would be expected.
Our source says that though it is not yet clear if the FTH nurses would finally back down, strong indications from some members at the meeting shows good understanding from both parties.
Representatives of the group will be meeting with the members of the group and their final position will be known.
You would recall that the reasons for the withdrawal of the FTH Nurses from NANNM include the following and more:
1. The removal of teaching allowance since 2014 without NANNM making any efforts to correct this.
2. Lack of Transparency, Fraud and lack of empathy to the plight of junior Nurses in the FHI
3. Why Nurses keep on paying such exhobitant dues to their National bodies without any significant impact.
4. Lack of financial accountability
