The University of Uyo (UniUyo), Akwa Ibom State and the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology, South Korea, have said they are collaborating in research and development.
The UNIUYO Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Comfort Ekpo, made this known at a workshop in Abuja. The UNIUYO’s International Centre for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Research organised the workshop entitled,”Water Security for a sustained Transformation.
A statement from the university on Monday said the event attracted participants from the federal and state ministries of Water Resources, Environment, Science and Technology as well as the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency.
In her address, the ICEESR acting Director, Dr. Edu Inam, said the workshop created a platform for knowledge exchange and research experiences from diverse disciplines and nations, just as it opened opportunities for networking among participants especially those from developing countries in Africa.
Inam, who hailed stakeholders for their support for the project, thanked UNIUYO VC for providing the enabling environment for research in the university.
The VC, represented by a former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Anthony Akpan, said research was paramount to human existence.
